My name is Apoorva Prabhu R. I am pursuing Computer Science Engineering in NMAM Institute of technology. I completed PU in Jnanasudha PU College, Kukkundoor, Karkala. I completed my schooling in Srimad Bhuvanendra High School Karkala. From 7th to 10th Std I had got scholarship from K Devdas Kamath, Karkala for scoring highest marks in the class, which in turn waived my school fees during this period. In addition to academic activities I am good in singing and participated in many district level singing competitions. I have completed junior certificate in Hindustani Classical Music. I am very much interested and would like to continue my learning in Hindustani music. Now I am part of various clubs in my college. I am taking part in many bhajana programmes in temples. I am learning harmonium instrument too. Also I participated in Karate district level competition during my schooling. I belong to an extended family. We are 3 children for my parents. I have younger sister and younger brother. Sister completed her SSLC this year. And brother is in 7th standard. They are also good at studies and dedicated towards their work.
During my schooling, I had applied for GSB Scholarship, Wadala. So, when I joined Engineering, I thought it would be good to apply for this scholarship. So this happened. Meanwhile, I got to know Geetha Pai Madam. She spoke to me and my parents about my academic fees and other things. As I got the merit seat through COMED-K exam, the college fees was more. One fine day I got to speak with Geetha Pai Madam and she enquired me about the financial matter, I explained to her my academic fee structure and the way I used to pay it to the college. I have borrowed the loan from bank. She then told me about Ajit Prabhu Foundation. When I heard about this I informed my parents about the same and discussed with them. My parents were relieved as I got selected for the scholarship by Prabhu Foundation.
I had a dream that I should study in a very good engineering college, I got the merit seat in computer science engineering in NMAM Institute of technology through COMED-K exam, the academic fee was high. I took loan from the bank, this helped me pay the fee to the college. Then I came in contact with Geetha Madam and luckily I got selected for the scholarship from Ajit Prabhu foundation. This again helped me to pay my tuition fee and reduce financial burden of my parents, as this helped me in reduction of principle amount and also interest money. My parents are able to provide education to my sister and brother because the financial burden of mine has decreased now. We are grateful to the foundation. I couldn’t attend the scholarship distribution program in Mangalore due to my internals and lab exams, the team sent me the cheque through post.
This kind of support makes me motivated and dedicated towards my work, the help we get from such scholarship foundation is really helpful to shape our future in a positive way. So I am very thankful to the Ajith Prabhu foundation for the help I received, I will definitely make use of this opportunity to shape my future in a good way.
In my view, the foundation can use the present and the past beneficiaries to share the information about the scholarship and the foundation. So that these students can share the things about the same with their relatives, friends, classmates and neighbors, and can share the information in their social media too. Thus the students who are in need of amount can get benefit from this. I feel this is the better way to reach out to more needy students. Also the students who take this benefit should make use of this in a right manner.
